General Assistance Program

The Municipality of York, Maine administers a General Assistance Program for the support of the poor. Pursuant to Title 22 MRSA (4305), the municipal officers have adopted the ordinance establishing the program. A copy of this ordinance is available for public inspection at the York Town Hall. Also available for inspection, is a copy of the State of Maine General Assistance Statutes, as the State of Maine Department of Human Services makes copies of the State law available to the municipality.

Persons who wish to apply for General Assistance may do so at York Community Services Association (YCSA), Family Service Office at 855 US Route One by appointment or during the following scheduled walk-in times; Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
